The Tree of Life
The proper study of the Paths (Major Arcana cards) is the descending from the Sun of the Divine Creative and then ascending of the united Understanding of the microcosm up the Tree of Life (The Serpent Path), as we are "below" and/or need to remember the other realms of Spirit and Mind "above".
Our identity began in the Plasmic Evolution "Above" and since coming "down" the Tree of the Universal I AM (The lightning path) to become the in-form-action of Spirit now we can "make manifest" our Self-Information directly from the Psyche/Soul/Solar Self. Hence, the Soul/Psyche has had to make many sacrifices to "downsize" into increasingly condensed and/or coagulated forms of I AM. From Tiphareth to Malkuth our Mind had to compartmentalize, anima/female and animus/male, had to split into separate sexes instead of the hermaphrodite that is the Soul. The physical copy of this split is made manifest in our Left-male and Right Female brain.
Lightning path-Descent. Serpent path-Ascent.
Then the instinctual planetary mind (subconscious) of the animal (body cellular collective) had to be adopted by our Solar Self, (Psyche) to operate a physical-sensual body that is so necessary for Divine information to become the Sun of the Divine Creatives intimate form.
We have implanted our star/solar seed (individual Plasmic frequency) at the base of the spine, known as the 'root chakra' or 'Muladhara chakra,' coiled up and ready to ascend when the true identity of the Soul/Psyche establishes contact with the body, resonating in a harmonious melody of vibrations from the Celestial Spirit-Mind connection.
This rising sun of the Solar Self then completely awakes all the genetics of the "God Molecule"(DNA) and/or "Tree of Life" within the body. Everything is quantumly connected and each of us is a song of a multiverse of vibration and frequency that many call "the Soul/Solar Self" that radiates from the Galactic Core.
the Human Merkabah- a celestial Song of Self that forms patterns of light
Therefore, we are the Energy and Intelligence of Starlight, not planets, and therefore, must understand the planetary mental structure as well as our own Divine Creative's light- image making structure called "imagination" that has now become sensual. The experiences on Earth assist us in our goals of a more refined understanding of Universal information patterns. Such as a microscope helps the biologist in a more refined understanding of a body's cell- structure, protein, and bacterial combinations.
Earth-being manifestation, with its crystalline lenses and mirror reflected light, (the "I sight" of our senses), helps us see deeply into the microcosm of the Natural Mind, so that we better understand the cosmic connection that is the new Macrocosmic/Microcosmic Self; of I AM ME.
For Self /I Am is all there is (even our observation changes what we observe to what we "think we are looking at") and Self is all that we shall ever understand.
However, with all this adapting. coagulating, and adopting, we seem to have become amnesiacs and forgotten the vastness of Solar Self/Psyche that came to earth to operate a condensed /coagulated and therefore, more intimate form of Self in its Name of I AM.
We must remember that the intense concentration of light into matter has made intimacy with Creation possible and/therefore, intense examination of sensual information as in-form-action that is the experience-which creates intimate knowledge. We should also remember it has taken over Trillions of years for One Energy to become you. Hence, you are the destination of the Spirit, rather than the false concept of "ascending unto the heavens" to vacate the body enclosure.
In truth, you are not enclosed in the body any more than the Ocean is enclosed in a fish. You are not a body, you are the Pranic force that operates it. The Greek word "spiro" is the root word of the English word for Spirit. Spiro means "to breathe" and/or "Breath". The body lives because you are the Universal breath/I AM- (Ocean of breath/Prana) that established itself around and through the body. Now, the Plasmic Being can experience itself in an intimate microcosmic way by animating a planetary source of being.
Deoxyribonucleic acid-DNA-The God Molecule
Even some renowned geneticists claim that the human DNA molecule is older than the Earth, as the Earth-life is 3.8 billion years old, and the human DNA has been recently argued to be Trillions of years old! Even your body DNA isn't from earth according to the theory of panspermia and yet your Spirit (Spiral Energy) began Trillions of years ago when light appeared in the Universe as a shouting aloud of "I AM!"
The Universe resounds with the joyful cry I AM.
-Scriabin
I Am the Temple of Wholeness.
If our Divine Consciousness is functioning though a physical vehicle, this is where our serious esoteric and exoteric work begins and ends only to begin again. Because of the intimacy that the senses give us, we tend to forget we began in the Macrocosm as a Spiritual Being (Plasmic spiral energy forming into an electromagnetic sphere of experience), long before we became owners of measured form.
The body sensuality makes us think we are trying to ascend beyond our bodies; this is upside down thinking, for we descended from the Stars to become planets; to unite the planetary and Solar aspects of I AM. Now I AM has become Me!
I AM ME!
As souls, we know that without sensual memory of the subtle dimensions of the multiverse we would be unable to turn information into experience, which creates knowledge. Due to the indoctrination and dogma of the "few who wish to rule the many" we have forgotten our Celestial roots and the great purpose for our dreams of self by increasingly become more condensed.
The Universe /World Card represents the absorption of all that was experience, creating an end to the old data and the building/beginning of the new. It is a well-known fact in astrophysics that the "Big Bang" was the destruction of one Universe to reconstruct another and many "Big Bangs" are still going on outside our own galaxy to this day.
I die daily...is just I lay my personality down in death/analysis over night to rebuild it with more knowledge daily.
The Path of Tau-ATU/Key 21-The Universe, joins the crystallized world of earth, Malkuth-Meaning Kingdom, with the 9th Sephiroth- Yesod -meaning Foundation. This Intellectual Path is the first step in a journey out of the material condition that leads us to a greater understanding of the Personality that was designed by the Soul/Solar Self (Tiphareth) for each incarnation; long before our man-made personality / false-ego and divided sexual identity, blinded us to our original Identity of Divinity; The I AM.
The brain is a chaos of words and errant association. Our eye-dentity (identity) was never manmade nor is it now! We all are the "suns of goddess/god" and/or the Solar Divine Creative Self Identity often called the Celestial I Am.
The God Name for Self is I AM.
Time to clear your "I" of ruler made words.
Dr. Paul Foster Case, the founder of B.O.T.A. who wrote the class text: The Thirty-Two Paths to Wisdom (the number Thirty-Two is the sum of the Paths and the Sephiroth) calls the Path of Tau (The Universe card) the “Administrative Intelligence" because it "directs and associates in all seven planets." The "seven planets" he is referring to are the Macroprosopus-Hexagram pattern of the seven planets on the Tree of Life and the seven major chakras of the human body. Symbolically this path connects the earth to the Microcosm (Microprosopus- in The Sepher Yetzirah-Qabalistic text) represented by the Hexagram as the symbolic Seven Chakras on the Tree of Life. Therefore, the Path of Tau is both power and servitude as ascribed to the Palace of Holiness that sustains all things. That Palace, being the associated seven planets, which are the symbols for the seven chakras and the human body and/or Spirit-Mind-Body. The Path of Tau that connects the Universal Self to Earth-Self.
From the Western Hermetic Qabalistic standpoint the 21-Universe/World Card may be the most important card in the deck for it is the point where we begin the process of inner exploration and bring the Macrocosmic Self into marriage with the Microcosmic Self. Hence, 0 =2. It is on this Path that we encounter our own personal self-conscious, a personality that is all inside our heads as coding- divorced from physical reality and living only in a fantasy woven for it by indoctrination and dogma and thereby infested with the "mind virus" of evil (live spelled backwards).
Two who are One.
The Universe card represents the beginning of the process from 0=2 to 2=1; a process of remembering the Divine Union of the Anima -Binah and Animus-Chokmah as One Hermaphrodite Solar-Self, instead of divide and conquer indoctrinated belief of the separate battling media-controlled sexes. Before the Military Industrial Complex began the process of colonization, the indigenous/pagan cultures observed five genders.
The five-gender paradigm observed in many Indigenous cultures of the Americas reflects a holistic understanding of gender and identity that is deeply rooted in spiritual, social, and communal values. This framework often diverges from the binary gender system introduced by European colonization. Here’s an overview of the five recognized genders and their philosophical underpinnings:
1. Female and Male
These are the traditional categories of gender often associated with biological sex. However, in many Indigenous cultures, these identities are not merely defined by biological factors but also by roles, responsibilities, and spiritual aspects within the community.
2. Two-Spirit Female and Two-Spirit Male
The concept of "Two-Spirit" (a term coined in the 1990s by Indigenous LGBTQIA+ activists) encompasses individuals who embody both masculine and feminine spirits. This is not strictly about sexuality or gender expression but a deeper recognition of their unique spiritual role and contribution to the community. Two-Spirit individuals often served as:
- Mediators: Bridging the physical and spiritual worlds or resolving conflicts within their communities.
- Healers: Their dual nature was believed to grant them special insight and wisdom.
- Keepers of Tradition: Preserving oral histories, rituals, and cultural knowledge.
Two-Spirit identities differ from tribe to tribe, and specific terms, roles, and interpretations vary widely across Native American cultures.
3. Transgender
In this paradigm, transgender individuals were often understood as those whose gender identity or expression diverged from the one assigned to them at birth. In many Indigenous communities, transgender people were not seen as outliers but as integral members with distinct roles. They were often valued for their fluidity and viewed as possessing unique insights.
Philosophical Foundations
The Native American understanding of gender is rooted in holistic and animistic worldviews:
- Interconnectedness: All beings, human and non-human, are interconnected in a sacred balance. Gender diversity reflects the diversity of creation.
- Role-Based Identity: Identity is less about rigid categories and more about one’s contribution and relationship to the community and the natural world.
- Sacred Dualities: The blending of masculine and feminine energies is often seen as sacred and powerful, representing the union of opposites essential to the harmony of the universe.
- Respect and Inclusion: Many Indigenous cultures embraced diversity as a strength, seeing each person as uniquely gifted and essential to the community's well-being.
Impact of Colonization
European colonization disrupted these practices by imposing binary gender systems and patriarchal values. The spiritual and social roles of Two-Spirit and transgender individuals were marginalized or erased. However, in recent decades, there has been a resurgence of Indigenous gender philosophies, thanks to cultural revitalization movements and greater recognition of Two-Spirit identities.
This philosophy offers a profound lesson about embracing diversity, challenging binary norms, and recognizing the sacredness of all identities.

Hermes and Aphrodite= the Divine Hermaphrodite-the Two aspects of our whole Psyche.
The understanding of the Hebrew letter Tau (meaning cross), and the Path from Malkuth to Yesod, is rooted on the fact that all is Mind/Self. I know that as we are all sensually body oriented, we think that the Mind's realm of ideas, dreams, or thoughts, are somehow divorced from the physical; therefore, we have a dual concept of ourselves as a body and mind, yet all around us and in us is "Space" and that Space is the "Great Dark Sea (SEE) of Mother Binah and/or the Universal Collective Unconscious. The Qabalah teaches that all is Mind and yes, the body is "crystallized idea" and/or coagulated dream. Therefore, Life is of the Mind. Taking this a step further, all is the Spiritual Will of I AM (one energy-mind) and the body is "Crystallized Willed information" of Self-Awareness.
In the Mysteries, the distinction of Mind and Body is one of perception (brought on by senses), not an actuality. The Spirit and Body are as connected as the dreamer is with their dream. The pictures we see when we close our eyes are a more refined form of matter (liquid mind) they are the images and energy forms which are closest to the physical condition: a condition that the soul is dreaming as itself.
The concept of Yesod (Foundation) and the Astral plane of Mind, is based on the understanding that most of the Universe is unseen, in fact, our bodies are composed of the electromagnetic spectrum and seem solid, yet they are 96 % invisible. That means, that most of us are judging the Kingdom of I Am, the Earth and our flesh, with less than 4% of our minds, while errantly thinking that sensuality and/or "feelings" are reality!
There is also an estimation that comes from quantum physics, that invisible Dark Energy comprises 26% of the physical Universe, and invisible Dark Matter comprises 70% of our known Universe. Hence emotional sensuality is less than 26% of your Energy-In-Motion (you are the Dark Energy -mirror of Self who uses visual- light to " reflect upon itself").
Since Malkuth is the only physically sensual kingdom, we must internally travel the Path of Tau to experience the "Seven Palaces of Assiah"(Seven planets) and the Seven resulting Chakras, as represented by the seven-pointed star on the Star Card ATU/Key 17.
In Western Hermetic Qabalah, going inward means going up the Tree of Life, (The Serpent Path) going outward, into the world is going down the Tree (The Lightning Path).

"Alpha and Omega-the creation is all things at once, the grand knowing in expression, light patterns of the Divine dance in divine orchestration and choreography, connection with the whole, the divine dancer dances before us, the heavens are mirroring itself in light made manifest".

Alpha and Omega
Both the Thoth Universe and the Lost Soul Tarot ATU/Key 21-, are the key to individuality, totality, and wholeness. To those of Eastern culture, this is the image of Shiva and Shakti; to the Christian, this is the image of the Virgin Mary with her foot on the head of the serpent. To the Western Hermetic Qabalist, this is Lilith dancing with Lord Python, the First Wife and the First Husband whose dance spins the Atoms into universes of Self as a rhythmic heartbeat. To Western magic and metaphysicians, the Abyssal Womb starts to twirl and dance within herself, ever increasing her spin, creating the first Huband, her "other", her most beloved as Fire/Light/Waves of energy. Hence, the images of the Sun and Moon as lovers.

The Mystic Palette Tarot- Key 21-World.
The Mystic Palette Tarot- Key 21-World, uses the term world for this key, as do most traditional tarots based on the Rider-Waite-Smith Tradition. Here the Cosmic orb encompasses the World as a Creatrix with arms outward holding a golden chain with the symbol of the Planet Saturn and the Hebrew letter Tau/Tav . This card represents a goal or purpose accomplished. You are in the right place at the right time, doing the right thing. You are in tune with the Macrocosm and therefore, are whole and complete.
In Western Hermetic Qabalah, the Hebrew letter Tau/Tav (ת) holds profound symbolic meaning, particularly when considered within the framework of the Tree of Life, the Tarot, and broader esoteric correspondences. Here's an exploration of its significance:
1. Position on the Tree of Life
- Path: Tav is the 32nd and final path on the Tree of Life.
- Connection: It connects Malkuth (Kingdom) at the base of the Tree with Yesod (Foundation), the sphere associated with dreams, the subconscious, and the astral realm.
- Meaning: This path symbolizes the journey from the material plane (Malkuth) to the foundation of higher spiritual realities (Yesod). It represents the integration of the physical and spiritual worlds, the realization that the material universe is a reflection of divine principles.
2. Literal and Mystical Meaning
- Literal Meaning: Tav means "mark" or "seal" in Hebrew.
- Mystical Interpretation: It signifies completion, culmination, and truth. In the Qabalistic worldview, Tav is the "seal of creation," marking the point where the divine manifests fully into the material world. It represents the culmination of the divine plan.
3. Tarot Correspondence
- Card: The letter Tav is assigned to The Universe (or The World) card in the Tarot.
- Symbolism of The Universe Card:
- Completion of a cycle.
- Integration of opposites.
- Mastery of the material plane and the realization of unity with the divine.
- The card often depicts a figure (sometimes androgynous) surrounded by a wreath, symbolizing the completion of the Great Work.
4. Astrological Correspondence
- Saturn: Tav is associated with Saturn, the planet of structure, limitation, and discipline.
- Meaning in this Context: Saturn’s influence highlights the necessity of boundaries and discipline to achieve spiritual enlightenment. Tav embodies the idea of learning through structure and understanding the constraints of the material world to transcend them.
5. Esoteric Symbolism
- Elemental Attribution: Earth (in some systems).
- Tav represents the densest and final stage of manifestation, where spirit crystallizes into matter.
- Karmic Implications: As the last letter of the Hebrew alphabet, Tav embodies the end of a journey, often linked to karmic cycles, lessons learned, and the reconciliation of all forces into unity.
6. Symbolic Imagery and Archetypes
- Seal or Cross: Tav is often depicted as a cross-like shape in its ancient forms, symbolizing the intersection of spirit and matter.
- Key Archetype: The concept of completion and the fulfillment of purpose. In the microcosm, Tav represents the human soul's journey through material existence back to its divine source.
7. The Great Work
In the Western Hermetic tradition, Tav encapsulates the culmination of the Great Work—the spiritual alchemical process of unifying opposites, balancing the inner self, and achieving enlightenment. It marks the point at which the initiate has moved through all stages of spiritual development, integrating the lessons of the Tree of Life.
Summary of Correspondences:
Attribute | Tav (ת) |
---|---|
Path on the Tree | 32nd Path (Malkuth to Yesod) |
Tarot Card | The Universe/The World |
Planet | Saturn |
Element | Earth |
Meaning | Seal, mark, completion |
Theme | Fulfillment, integration, truth |
Tav is the ultimate symbol of wholeness, integration, and the perfected manifestation of divine will in the Hermetic Qabalistic system. It invites the practitioner to contemplate the interconnectedness of all things and the eternal journey of spirit through matter and back to unity.
Rider-Waite-Smith-Key 21-The World
The Mystic Palette Tarot-World card places the divine Creatrix in a wreath of rainbow light with the shape of an egg-shaped circle representing the "World Egg" and/or Egg of Akasha. Life, with its beginning, middle, and end, processes in waves or spirals (Spirit is a Spiral flow of Plasmic Energy) which cycle back upon themselves. This circling back upon itself is often shown as a Great Serpent which is called Ouroboros and is often shown eating its own tail. This is also the natural course of the Akashic Fluid (Astral Fluid) of Yesod where the Serpent Kundalini is coiled in its passive state and uncoiled in its active state.
Thus, Crowley chose to represent the Great Serpent of Akashic Fluid as "Lord Python" of Lilith fame and both the Rider-Waite-Smith and Mystic Palette tarot show the Great Serpent Ouroboros the Serpent either as a wreath of leaves or a rainbow circle of light waves around the Akashic Egg symbolizing life, always recycling itself by eating itself and rebirthing itself.
Egg of Akasha.
The Universe Card is also surrounded in the Great Dark Sea, a reference to the Great Mother Binah, who is the Sea of all consciousness which on the path of Tau, is consciousness in the most dense and difficult expression. The Dark Sea of the Creatrix is shown as dark star-studded Space on the Mystic Palette World card and as a green orb with a mobius loop in its center surrounded by a matrix of stars; all placed within an egg shape surrounded by the four universal element symbols of eagle (air), man, (Water) bull (earth) and lion (Sun/fire) on the Thoth Universe card.
On the Thoth Card, Herself and the python mate, are projections of the One Eye shown radiating light into the shapes of python and sky dancer. Hence, 0=2 and all creations come from 2=1. Beneath them at the bottom of the egg shape, is the golden sketched image of the Pantheon of the gods.
Again, discrimination must be used when traveling the Akasha of Yesod, many who entered this Path, entertain themselves with extended fantasy and find themselves tormented by phantoms of their own making. The discerning traveler will supply every test of reason and feeling. After a time of discernment, one will begin experiencing a process of learning which is not of their own making. Verifying the images, by elaborate research and analysis aids in this process.
Let the seeker seek, until he becomes troubled by learning they were what they sought all along. When they realize this, they become astonished and know that they are ruler over the All.
Many errantly think that the term "Ascension" means we are here to learn limited knowledge from experience and then go back to the "heavens" (stars) we came from. The truth is, we create forms from our own data of Self -thought (Psyche), to experience that information as in-form-action. When information becomes in-form-action, it is now turned into Knowledge and the Knowledge of Self is progressive and/or an infinite journey of I AM Life.
Hence, Souls have manifested forms of I AM Me on many other worlds/ planets, and after earth is exhausted, we shall manifest I AM Me on many more for we are the Suns of the Divine and carry the "God Molecule" to planets to manifest the Hermaphrodite Archetype of Adam Khadmon, the Universal/Archetypal "Image of the Heavenly Human".
The Heavenly Human-Adam Khadmon
As Carl Jung states: "To experience Self means that we are always conscious of our own identity. We then know that we can never be anything other than our Self, that we will never lose our Self, and that we can never be estranged from our Self. This is so, because we realize that Self is indestructible, that it is always One and the Same, that it cannot be dissolved or exchanged for something else. The Self enables us to remain the same under all circumstances of our life."
The Universe resounds with the joyful cry I AM.
-Scriabin
The Qabalist knows, that Self is all we will ever know, and that SELF, (some call it God), created all images as "Self-Information" to be experienced and cataloged in the Universal Unconsciousness as variations of Self-Awareness.
Lilith the first wife and Lord Python-the first husband.
Regardless of cultural interpretation this ATU/Key/Path 21-card symbolizes the Divine Androgen/Hermaphrodite that is both dynamic and magnetic in a perfectly balanced dance (life motion) of I Am. On the Thoth Universe Card, The First Wife (Lilith)and The First Husband (Python/ Serpentine waves of Energy/Force) are shown dancing in the Ecstasy of fulfillment, mimicking he serpentine flow of light (waves), which is known in the mysteries as the "first husband". The Creatrix /"Magnetitrix" is the Dark Mater impregnated by the light of her own motion and/or that impregnates the dark matter with dark energy that she then encases/encloses light into electric (male)magnetic (female) Form within the Abyssal Womb of imagination, allowing manifestation of idea as "Self".
Before I go on with further explanation of the Universe- Key/ATU-21, it would be appropriate here to tell you how to mentally "Walk" the Path of Tau. This mental walk is called Scrying. Scrying is simple really, all one must do is focus on a card that is reflected in a dark mirror (symbolizes "the other side of the Mirror and the Dark Mater"), allowing impressions to form from the "other side of Light" or even imagine themselves entering it as the Self who is reflected. This is like lucid dreaming, where you enter the dream and control the events.
Here, one is projecting themselves into an inner vision using a "daydream", projecting oneself into the Vision of the Card which is full of occult secrets. Some may breathe deep and easy, relaxed in body, and light 2 candles (the flickering of candlelight is essential) in the periphery and mentally project themselves into the Key Vision of the card. Others, as do I, like traveling into a tunnel, imagine themselves entering Visions, as the card grows ever bigger until entry and thereby, becoming a threshold to another dimension.
At first, boredom may take over, but soon the diligent aspirant discovers that what they experience in this lucid scrying is not of their own making. They often are astonished at the vitality, energy, and spontaneous images that these Tarot Card "mandalas" of Self invoke. As a Qabalist I know that all 78 Tarot Cards represent aspects of the One- Self (The Fool), of whom we all represent as manifested Self-Awareness, and the Dark mirror represents the "Dark Sea of the Great Mother Binah" and/or the Wisdom of Sophia.
* NOTE: To make a dark mirror is to remove the glass and paint the back of the mirror black. Return it to its frame and you have a dark mirror. The candles make a gentle light, so that the reflected image of the card which is presented face to face with the dark mirror, is muted but bright enough to see and reverses the illusion effect of reflected light of this realm into a flickering dance, so that one sees the "truth behind the reflection" and/or the "other side of the mirror". Therefore, the flickering of candlelight also simulates the dance of energy that is 0 that equals 2 and/or the dance of Electric (Male) and Magnetic (Female) forces that make the electromagnetic spectrum of light and therefore, the visible Universe.
In the Forces of the Path of Tau, is the information, the data, of all the accumulated ideas that went into the making of our world (s) of Malkuth. There is much to experience and remember here so discernment is recommended, as we journey back into our Divine heritage, we must educate our "I's" to perceive our "I AM Spirit", and/or our Whole Golden Self. The Path of Tau begins the process of knowing ourselves as we have been known into existence; an existence so dutifully produced by our Divine Creative’s Lucid Dream of United Motion and/or the serpentine Dance of microwaves. In fact, if the student of Tarot/Qabalah, doesn't scry these cards, they may as well be a deck of playing cards or be a charlatan who preys on superstitious false ego's for only monetary gain.
From the standpoint of Gnosis (knowledge), the Universe/World Key 21, may be the most important card in the deck, as it is the beginning of ourselves-the Fool's journey back to Spiritual Self-Awareness: the inner journey so important to "enlightenment" and/or the Memory of Spiritual Self.
On the Mystic Palette Tarot-The World, we see his subconscious companion the dog looking back as the Fool walks forward on the Path of Tau towards the Orphic Egg and Creatrix. The subconscious is always looking back, as it is the place where we store survival thinking memories. While the Fool is almost at journey's end.
The Four Elements are represented as well as the two wands held by the Creatrix in the art of the Rider-Waite-Smith World card. Here they are scepters.
Aleister Crowley linked the Fool card of the Tarot to breath as part of its correspondence in the Western Hermetic tradition and its alignment with Qabalistic and esoteric principles. This linkage is rooted in his magnum opus, The Book of Thoth, and draws from the symbolism of the Hebrew letter Aleph (א), attributed to the Fool card. Below is an elucidation of this concept:
1. Aleph as Breath
- In Qabalistic tradition, the Hebrew letter Aleph is associated with the Fool. Aleph is silent, representing the ineffable essence of spirit and pure potential.
- Aleph also means "ox" in Hebrew, signifying primal energy and the life force. However, esoterically, it relates to breath as the animating principle of life. Breath is the first and most fundamental expression of spirit, mirroring the first creative act in the cosmos.
2. Breath and the Fool’s State of Being
- The Fool embodies a state of pure potentiality, innocence, and spontaneity. Crowley emphasizes that this state aligns with breath because breath is unconscious, effortless, and eternal—qualities mirrored by the Fool’s carefree nature.
- Breath also transcends individuality, as it is universal. This reflects the Fool’s connection to the divine essence that underlies all creation.
3. Air Element
- The Fool corresponds to the element of Air, which is directly linked to breath. Air represents freedom, intellect, and the bridge between the physical and spiritual worlds.
- Crowley’s system emphasizes Air’s role as a medium through which spirit (symbolized by breath) moves and animates form.
4. The Fool as Spirit in Motion
- Crowley describes the Fool as the "ever-coming son" and the "divine madness" of the universe—a reference to the ceaseless flow of spirit (breath) animating all existence.
- In practical terms, breath symbolizes both the primal force of the divine and the continuous motion of life. This mirrors the Fool’s infinite possibilities and movement toward manifestation.
5. Breath in Esoteric Practices
- Breathwork is central to many spiritual traditions as a tool to access higher states of consciousness. The Fool, linked to breath, represents the point of access to these elevated states.
- Crowley’s teachings often emphasize transcendence of the ego and the uniting of the microcosm (the individual) with the macrocosm (the divine), achievable through the practice of controlling and observing the breath (Pranayama in Yoga practices).
6. Connection to the Path of Aleph
- The Fool corresponds to the Path of Aleph on the Tree of Life, which connects Kether (Crown, pure divinity) with Chokmah (Wisdom, active creation). This path represents the initial breath of creation—the bridge from the undifferentiated divine to the emanation of creative energy.
In summary, Crowley’s association of the Fool with breath is a profound metaphor for the essence of life, the animating spirit of the cosmos, and the bridge between potential and manifestation. The Fool’s connection to Aleph and Air deepens its symbolism, portraying the card as both the origin of life and the unending motion of divine creation.
On this Path of Tau, we experience our own personality consciousness, which is of our own cultural egregore making, a reality that can be both frightening and gratifying as we realize that the false ego/personality (the brain) isn't nor ever has been ourselves.
Yes, we make our own reality (mindscape), and the Universe card helps us to travel beyond the self-absorbed sensual reality of our man-made personalities, into the Higher Self reality that created our consciousness of I Am Energy in the Beginning. Freedom of Choice defines our "End"; an end produced by the composite pattern of perspectives that often form our personalities. That "freedom of Choice" has been covered up with a falsehood of indoctrination, dogma, and an infectious "mind virus" of self-destructive tendencies of divisionism, causing one to be an automaton of those few who rule the many (media-controlled word hypnosis) and/or a "robot of the Military Industrial Complex".
Reclaiming our freedom to choose begins in the Path of Tau, the World card path.
Between the Hebrew letters of Aleph (fool) and Tau (Tav), (Universe) is the entire Universe, the Alpha, and the Omega, the Macrocosmic-Microcosmic, and we must journey upwards from our Spirit's "ending" manifestation, into the Beginning....for they who know their end, know their beginning! (Nag Hammadi Library-Gnostic text) Thus, the Path of Tau-The Universe, is a Path that can only be successfully traveled by those who begin the process of bringing their Personalities into a self-understanding balance.
Of personalities, we have many,( all individual in Spirit- Fire-Air-Water-Earth) each represented by the lower 5 Sephiroth on the Tree of Life and for the sake of Knowing Thyself, they must be viewed at first, independently, and later as a wholeness which is the rationale behind the legion of persona's that we as Spirit have slowly condensed by the accumulation of more self-awareness (self-information) in the transmigration of the Fool/Soul into the Manifested Universe.
The Universe/World card represents the point where we begin the return to No-thing/Non-Space from which we came. All for the purpose of "Above all things, know thyself" which begins another cycle of I AM awareness. The return to No-thing/Non-Space, is not an end but another beginning. For space exists only when you have a beginning and an end; a point A to point B. From one point in time to another point in time, is measurement, and therefore, produces space between the points. Hence, each creation begins a new measurement of Self.
This may also astound the student, but it is on the path of Tau (The Universe Card), that one discovers the extent to which the process of inner exploration is assisted by the guidance of the "Angels", particularity "Archangels" (Our ET family). The Family of Spirit is vast and many, and of that family, we are the Children/Suns of the Divine Coupling "with the Women of Men" (Bible); The Inheritors and/or ET's that came to Earth (Anunnaki) and combined their Trillion year old DNA with that of an earthly hominoid, establishing the "God Molecule" in Earth DNA/RNA making it possible for ET/Celestial souls to manifest on Earth.
Uniquely, on earth there is only one DNA molecule for all living things on it. which is deemed impossible by astrophysicist and biophysicist. For if Life evolved on this planet, it would have experimented with many DNA molecules. This alone proves that this is a terraformed colony of ET life.
It may surprise you, especially since the Pavlovian indoctrination of your personality has defined you deficient, that to the whole of the Universe you are most precious as a new and more sensual experience of Self! Again: what is not often taught in schools because it is a recent discovery, that the Human DNA is over Trillions of years old, while the Earth is only over 4.5 billion years old, and life is thought to be only 3.8 billion years old! Your DNA is Trillions of years older than as the Earth. Hence, you are Celestial Life not Earth-bound Life! and therefore, the Caduceus carried by Mercury/ET to this World. On the Rider-Waite-Smith traditional Tarot World one can see this Caduceus as "twin red ribbons" intertwined creating the wreath circle around the Creatrix Sophia.
Rider-Waite-Smith Tarot-key 21-the world
On the Mystic Palette Tarot-Key 21-World the Caduceus is shown as the intertwined chain of golden light that the Creatrix is holding in her hands.
The purpose of Tarot is to help you see, as you are seen by your Creator/Creatrix and wonder of wonders, you are not condemned but loved without condition! Your mental choices are Universally supported! This is both magic and tragic, depending on how you perceive yourself.
Again, one of the most important lessons of the Universe/World card is that of Discernment, a process that can only be learned in the earthly realm of Malkuth. This gateway to the Astral-fluid levels of Cosmic-Mind, is the Path of Tau, and the Astral is the place of “Fluid thoughts", ideas, dreams, and/or theories, before they crystallize into manifestation. It is as if light were liquid, as if the mirror of your mind is not yet solidified, reflecting you in liquid light on a dark moon pool.
There is deception in the Astral, such as Fantasies, and Phantoms that may never make it into manifestation, and some you never want to, so be discerning, even though only through divination can we enter the "Administrative Intelligence" that balances an action. This active balance is shown on the Universe Card by depiction of the Dancing Woman draped with the Caph/Kaf-shaped scarf (the blue fabric) while being surrounded by the animal symbols of the Four Elements of Alchemy.
The Hebrew letter Kaf/Caph, means "Palm", as in palm of the hand and therefore implies containment. The Vesica Pisces (Abyssal Womb), is the oval shape behind her, that holds within it a Torus, a multidimensional figure. The Serpent is "Microwaves" of energy, the grid around her is the Universal Matrix of stars that we are from. Also in her hand is a very important symbol in Western Hermetic Mysteries shown as a fishhook.
In Aleister Crowley’s Thoth Tarot, the Universe card (corresponding to the World card in other Tarot decks) features a figure often referred to as the Creatrix, representing the culmination of the Great Work and the integration of all opposites. One of the more enigmatic symbols in this card is the fishhook held in her right hand. Here is an elucidation of this symbol:
1. The Hebrew Letter Tav and the Fishhook
- The Universe card is attributed to the Hebrew letter Tav (ת), whose ancient pictorial form resembles a mark or cross, but some interpretations connect it symbolically to a fishhook.
- Tav represents completion, truth, and cosmic structure, tying into the idea of the hook as a tool for "catching" or anchoring something ephemeral, like divine truth or spiritual realization.
2. The Fishhook as a Tool of Creation and Connection
- The Creatrix is the active force weaving the fabric of the cosmos. The fishhook symbolizes her ability to reach into the infinite, formless waters of the Abyss (Binah) and draw forth life and structure, bringing the spiritual into the material.
- In a metaphysical sense, the fishhook is a tool for fishing the soul, pulling higher consciousness into embodied existence, reflecting the interplay of divine and physical realms.
3. Mythological and Alchemical Associations
- The fishhook has connections to mythological and mystical traditions, where fishing often represents the soul's quest for enlightenment or truth. In Crowley's system, it reflects the work of the initiate "catching" the final realization of unity.
- In alchemy, the fishhook may symbolize a tool of transformation, the ability to extract the "essence" or spirit from the formless waters of prima materia.
4. Astrological Symbolism of Saturn
- The Universe card is linked to Saturn, the planet of structure, boundaries, and time. The fishhook mirrors Saturn’s influence by representing the effort to anchor the eternal and the infinite into the finite framework of space-time.
- The hook is both a restrictive and liberating tool, as it allows the Creatrix to direct and control the boundless creative forces of the cosmos.
5. Connection to the Right Hand
- The right hand is traditionally associated with active power, action, and conscious will. The fishhook in her right hand emphasizes the active role of the divine feminine in creation—not passively allowing but actively shaping the universe.
- This placement suggests mastery and deliberate direction of spiritual energy toward manifestation.
6. The Fishhook as a Hermetic Symbol
- The fishhook also resonates with Hermetic ideas of drawing the hidden into the light—a key theme of the Great Work. The Creatrix, holding the fishhook, reflects the act of pulling latent spiritual truths into awareness, completing the cycle of integration and manifestation symbolized by the Universe card.
7. Catching the Infinite
- The Universe card represents the final step in the Fool’s journey, where all potential (Aleph, the breath of the Fool) is realized. The fishhook acts as the tool to "catch" this infinite potential and solidify it into the perfected cosmic order.
In essence, the fishhook held by the Creatrix in the Universe card symbolizes the active, deliberate process of drawing down divine inspiration, anchoring spiritual truths into material reality, and completing the work of creation. It encapsulates the card’s themes of unity, completion, and mastery over the infinite forces of the cosmos.
If you have been keeping up with my blog, you may know that the Thoth Universe Card is a multidimensional understanding of the Cosmic Mind. After much study, one may grasp the principle that the entire Tree of Life, which is taught through the Path of Tau-The Universe, is the most profound concept of "As above, so below"; and is a genetic "God Molecule" that once awakened/ascended from the kundalini to the Crown, tunes us into our Universal Inheritance of Divinity. To a sensual body, this means "up and down", to the Infinite, this just means "higher/Macrocosmic vibration" and "lower/Microcosmic vibration", a normal occurrence as energy condenses to greater and greater crystallization into matter and returns to No-thing by becoming less and less dense; all of which is implied in the Mobius Loop or Torus Strip in the center of the Card which is behind the Dancing Goddess/Creatrix as a Caph shaped scarf.
Of course, energy frequency, ideas and Mind are inseparable, just as electricity and data coding in your computer are inseparable. Thus, another axiom is attributed to the Tree, and Spirit which is "The Know is in the Flow of Breath". That is why, when we mentally journey a Path, we often use pranayama breathing techniques, to help gather knowledge at the same time we encounter higher mental frequency; mentally piecing the membrane boundaries of frequency, allowing increased information flow. Diligently scrying is more than just a moment of silent contemplation, it is also a gathering of I AM information through slow-deep solar plexus breathing.
The Lemniscate
In western hermetic magic and Qabalah, the quantum entanglement of male and female as 0=2 is called a lemniscate. In mathematics, it is a Möbius strip, band, or loop (US: MOH-bee-əs, MAY-, UK:; German: [ˈmøːbi̯ʊs]), also spelled Mobius or Moebius, is a surface with only one side (when embedded in three-dimensional Euclidean space) and only one boundary curve. The Möbius strip is the simplest non-orientable surface. It can be realized as a ruled surface. Its discovery is attributed independently to the German mathematicians Johann Benedict Listing and August Ferdinand Möbius in 1858, though similar structures can be seen in Roman mosaics c. 200–250 AD. Möbius published his results in his articles "Theorie der elementaren Verwandtschaft" (1863) and "Ueber die Bestimmung des Inhaltes eines Polyëders" (1865).
I have discussed the "Will-To-Form” of the Great Mother Binah (3rd Sephiroth on the Tree of Life) who is the Life and Mother of Conscious and which is Saturn in the exalted Supernal Realm of Atziluth. She is completely expressed on the Path of Tau, key 21-The Universe/World. The female figure of the " Cosmic Dancer" of the Universe, is the fullest expression of this Life-Consciousness and has been called Isis, the Anima Elohim, Scarlet Woman, Lilith as well as, Saturn who gives life and destroys it and/or the Great Mother Binah.
The mastering of Time/Space is the Soul's purpose (Saturn is Cronos and/or time), and that mastery is shown in the Soul's Avatar of Sensual Measurement on Earth, The Human Body. We are to be masters of our own dream/mindscape by becoming consciously intimate with that dream.
The oval ring of Stars that surrounds the central female figure on the Thoth Universe and the golden ring of stars on the World card, also represents the Womb of the human female as well as, the Cosmic Womb, known as the Vesica Pisces, (Abyssal Womb) into which the soul passes after body death. We arise from our body-death surrounded in a ring of stars, on our way to the Great Mother of Stars for each of us is a Star/ a demigod in manifestation. She then cleanses us in a baptism of love and sends us on to our next journey of Self-Awareness.
Know ye not that ye are gods- John 10:34; Psalm 82:6 .
Psalm 82 vs 6: I have said, Ye are gods; and all of you are children of the most High.. John 10 vs 34: Jesus answered them, Is it not written in your law, I said, Ye are gods?. Genesis 1 vs.27 … So God created human beings in his own image. In the image of God he created them; male and female he created them
Hence, you carry the "God Molecule" to planets. From the Star frequencies of Universal breath that you are!

Life, with its beginning, middle, and end, processes in waves or spirals (Spirit is a Spiral flow of Will-to-be Energy) which come back upon themselves. This circling back upon itself is often shown as a Great Serpent with its tail in its mouth. This is also the natural course of the Akashic Fluid (Astral Fluid) of Yesod where the Serpent Kundalini is coiled in its passive state and uncoiled in its active state. The Universe Card is also surrounded in the Great Dark Sea, a reference to the Great Mother Binah, who is the Sea of all consciousness (The Divine Collective Unconscious) which on the path of Tau, is consciousness in the most dense and difficult expression. (The green serpent intertwined with the "as above, so below" triangles of the Hexaculum, is the Sexual force of Scorpio.)
With fishhook (reference to Star Card) in hand this Universe female figure hooks the All Seeing "I" to her "Will -to- Form" creating limitations and restrictions of the "I AM Me", while weaving them into a web matrix to dance on.
The regenerative diamondback serpent is representative of the need to transform and is the serpentine force of universal fertilization that is often shown curled around the Orphic Egg from which the All is born. Coiled at the base of our spine is such a cosmic force, something we must animate in ourselves before we can expand and liberate ourselves from the past self-imposed limits of amnesia.
The spiral hair symbolizes growth and evolution of Spirit's I AM.
The diamond halo is the symbol for expanded awareness, such as psychic abilities etc.
The Greek pantheon at the bottom represents the home of all the goddesses and gods/The Mind. When our body becomes the temple of our divinity, such a pantheon are we.
The four animals symbolize earth (Taurus the bull), fire (Leo, the lion), and water (Scorpio, the bird): and air (Aquarius, the human face). This shows us that it is important to express ourselves, physically, (Taurus), spiritually (Leo), emotionally (Scorpio), and mentally (Aquarius).
To some people, the Tarot is about prophecy and seeing into the future but to Qabalists, the Tarot is about developing psychic abilities (Divya Siddhis, in Sanskrit which means: Magic abilities) by linking the multi levels of Spiritual-Self, Mental-Self, to Physical-Self. The more a reader uses the cards to find answers to given questions, the more that reader taps into the unseen currents of subtle energy/conscious that forms the Whole Self that is all around us, in us and as us.
Over time, as I will attest, the cards may seem to be redundancies; However, this isn't so since the answers are always deeply felt by the Unseen Tarot within. But again, our brain "thinks" by association and the Tarot Cards help us correspond to the Divine Images of creation.
the God Molecule (Western Hermetic Qabalah's tree of Life)
Note*-This is a 2-dimensional rendition of a very multidimensional molecule. Robert Wang attempted to get this idea of multidimensional Sephirotic "God Molecule" on his cover art of his book-The Qabalistic Tarot.
The Path of Tau is the ascending path from 10-Malkuth-Kingdom (bottom circle-Sephiroth) to the circle above it which is 9- Yesod-Foundation. Which is the path of the 21-Universe Trump/Major Arcana. We ascend the Tree of Life as we work from our material perspective (below) to our Divine Inheritance/Spiritual perspective-(above). We have manifested on Earth to achieve a more refined/intimate discerning perspective of the Universal Self through a personal learning- relationship with it.
As previously stated, our work with Earth is where all serious esoteric work begins and ends (Alpha and Omega) for as long as Divine Consciousness is functioning through a physical measurement/being.
The Path of Tau, The Universe, is the first path out of the material condition of the survival mind (animal consciousness) and leads towards understanding of the Personality constructed by the Greater Self (Higher Self) of Tiphareth (Beauty) for each incarnation. It behooves you to remember that a persona, the root word of personality, is a Greek word for "Mask". Hence, your personality is really a mask you have woven over your True Face of I AM. To be decerning you must remember-The Mask/Personality isn't you!
The Vesica Piscis is a geometric shape formed by the intersection of two congruent circles, with each circle's center on the other's circumference. The name "Vesica Piscis" is Latin for "bladder of a fish," referring to the shape's resemblance to a fish or almond.
This shape has been of significance in various cultures, including ancient and medieval Europe, and is often associated with symbolic and mystical interpretations. Here are a few key aspects of the Vesica Piscis:
Symbolic Meaning: The Vesica Piscis is considered a symbol of unity and the interplay between opposites or dualities. Its formation represents the intersection of two distinct entities coming together to create a shared space or common ground. It can symbolize the union of heaven and earth, spirit and matter, or masculine and feminine principles.
Spiritual and Religious Significance: In Christianity, the Vesica Piscis is sometimes used to symbolize the intersection of two circles representing Christ and the Church. The shape is also associated with the "Ichthys" or "Jesus Fish" symbol. In other spiritual and esoteric traditions, it may represent the merging of consciousness or spiritual awakening.
Mathematical Properties: The Vesica Piscis has interesting mathematical properties. Its width-to-height ratio is approximately 1.732, which is related to the square root of 3. This ratio is significant in geometry and can be seen in various architectural and artistic works.
Art and Architecture: The Vesica Piscis has been used in art and architecture for its aesthetically pleasing proportions and symbolic meaning. It can be seen in stained glass windows, mandalas, and sacred geometry designs.
Metaphysical Interpretations: In metaphysical and New Age circles, the Vesica Piscis is sometimes associated with energy centers, chakras, or the concept of duality merging into unity. It can be used as a tool for meditation and visualization.
Overall, the Vesica Piscis is a versatile and symbolically rich shape that has played a role in various cultural and spiritual contexts throughout history. Its meaning can vary depending on the tradition and interpretation, but it often represents unity, harmony, and the interconnectedness of all things.
We must also understand that The Universe is a Path of Entry into the Astral, which "seeks to deceive". This deception is not intentional, it is simply a dumping ground for every dream ever dreamt of and in no special order. There are a lot of images- data to be experienced as in-form-action.
Hence, all images are a metaphor, a story we tell ourselves and therefore not the truth itself.
Many people believe they are on one Path or another, when they are just entertaining their mental selves with a personal extended fantasy. We must apply every test of reason and feeling to the symbols we perceive on the Astral; we know it is not of our own making for it is often racial "memories", of the cultural egregore and if we are learning from these symbols, by applying verification or corroboration through research we gain considerable knowledge.
Discernment is the most important lesson/virtue of Malkuth. However, by going completely up the middle pillar of this Greater Self, we cross the Abyss and meet the Great She, The Will to Form, who is completely beyond description.
The Path of Tau is the only one of the thirty-two paths of Wisdom that connects sensation to the rest of the tree. "As above, so below" is now established because we are the "images of the Divine Creative" that are sensualizing data for all states of Greater Self-conscious!
Sensation is the Energy Microscope that is needed for impeccable creation in the Microcosm. Discerning Impeccability is necessary to expand and liberate the living from their own Phantoms of self-identity, i.e. fears of not being good enough or "right". However, even though the body is part of the 1% world of physical matter, it is 100% of all sensation (33 senses). Thus, we are fooled into thinking the sensation is us, which is an illusion. So, to begin with psychic development, we must give our senses to the Universe----so meditate on 21-The Universe card and expand your self-awareness.
When the Universe/World card is thrown in a layout the querent is:
- Casting the circle which means they are mastering in some way the three planes of mind, body and emotions.
- End of a phase, a completion of some work and expanding toward another.
- It means synthesis, the matter itself, world, and Kingdom.
- More than any other card, The Universe depends on the accompanying cards, as it usually denotes the subject of the question.
- Wholeness.
- Completion.
- Paradise regained.
- Resolution of restraints.
- Conclusion of Karma.
- The wayfarer in front of the throne of the Divine Creative.
- Recovery from illness.
If ill defined by the surrounding cards, it implies:
- The street to nowhere.
- The deceptive world of appearances.
- Endogenous depressions.
- Lack of willpower.
