Thoth- 5 of wands-strife
The Thoth Tarot 5 of Wands is named-STRIFE and its corresponding card in the Tarot of The Ages is Five of Batons. The Thoth 5 of Wands is also attributed to Saturn in the house of Leo.
.
Artfully Lady Frieda Harris displaying her knowledge of the Tantric Arts in the composition of the 5 of Wands-Strife. Here is a scene of 3 wands that could be called the Chakra Puja or Panchamakara, or the Choli Marg Tantric rituals. You can look these rituals up in the Book: THE ENCYCLOPEDIA OF SACRED SEXUALITY by the author, Rufus C. Camphausen.
The objective of Tantric and Taoist sexual practices is to harmonize, balance, exchange and utilize the life energies (Vital Fire) set free during erotic play and sexual union. The Sexual Self is and aspect of Spirit---it is the Adorable Fire of Life. In the instance of the 5 of Wands, the male electric-Fire is being heavily invoked by the Female Magnetic Water. Achieving an Electromagnetic surge which causes a great deal of physical strife and rebalancing with an hopeful end result of a great deal of bliss and a higher vibratory nature of the body’s vital energy. Hence, the Adorable Fire. To the well-studied student of Qaballah, this is the Masters Wand that represents the Masters Body. This is the Adorable Fire of Tantric, Gnostic, and Magick ritual….often called the Strife filled Ecstasy, which is always invoked by the communion of male electric and female magnetic energy stimulating a surge of vibration.
To the Elements, the 5's bring serious problems of unbalance. The Five of Wands-Strife, brings quarrel and strife in the Vital energy: The Five of Cups, brings disappointment to relationships; The Five of Swords, brings defeat to health and mind, as well as, bringing strangulation to income and business.
All seemingly very gloomy; However, the other cards in the divination will show how long the difficulty as well as, how serious the 5's are to be taken. Really, these nasty old 5's just announce that a difficulty exists and often the solution to the problem at hand is in the other cards of the Tarot reading.
This Lord of Strife astrologically is Saturn in Leo, which is the influence of Geburah (The 5th Sephiroth) in the World of Pure Spirit; Atziluth of the 4 Worlds.
Here the powerful heavy effects of Saturn, united with a Fire sign like Leo, brings quarreling and Strife in energy. In other words, volatility.
The Angels of the Decan are Vahaviah and Yelayel.
Wands represent the Primal Energy, and are a continual outpouring of force and in the 5's, with Saturn influence. Under Saturn, the "god of time", this flow of force is agitated and disturbed, not unlike water flow is disturbed by rocks, causing rapids. Or more likely, as volcanic magma is disturbed by the tons of rock it’s pushing through. Therefore, in the 5 of Wands, there is contest unresolved . Which is shown as a wrestling match, just begun, by two tribal men on the Tarot of The Ages- Five of Batons card.
In the 5 of Wands, are shown the Lotus wand of the Golden Dawn Adeptus Minor of Tiphareth, the Phoenix Wand of the Adeptus and the Major of Geburah, all crossing the central wand of the Major Adept. The fact that the Major Adept Wand is central is because its position implies this severity is directed by Geburah rather than happenstance and is part of the "Master's Journey". The Phoenix wand implies resurrection from the purgation of Fire, while the Lotus Wand is of the Mother. Therefore, this card suggests it is a Mastery of Time, and its measurements that is the "Master's Journey". The ferocity of Leo is pitted against the slow, leadend process of time. The Winged disc of Horus is shown on the top of the Master of Geburah's wand. Implying this journey brings one to the State of Mind that is Horus, and/or the Greater Self Identity of the Divine Sun/Son and/or the Solar Self. Hence, the "soul flower" in the center of the solar disk.
Many people find Geburah a difficult Intelligence to understand because she is a volcanic as Pelé (Hawaiian Volcano Goddess), all irrational disturbance, yet these disasters are derived from the benign and gentle influence of the Feminine that is Great Mother Binah. To me, this just shows Spirits "tough love" for its incarnations. Spirit knows you are the best built Divine Image for intimacy with creation, at this time, and have the internal strength necessary to handle anything this Universe can throw at you. Yet, because we often believe the definitions of those who "rule definition" (propaganda), we see ourselves as a weakness, trying to become strong this misconception is often corrected by the Master's strife filled journey.
The misconception here caused as we are taught to believe that mortality is a weakness, rather than the only way to experience the courageousness of our Souls to learn discrimination through sensation and its aspect of intimacy. Immortals don't have need of courage, nor are they intimate, without measurement, they don't die. However, they also don't have the sensual intimacy which is needed to produce discrimination and/or discernment. Therefore, the Strife of Time, is a loving corrective not a punishment.
Sensuality requires a "beginning and an end", to exist. The very fact that Soul is seeking sensuality by building an incarnate persona, requires severity just to make it so and a fearlessness to make it happen! For example, a certain amount of friction is required to form energy into creations. Without the severity of friction/magnetic force, form could not become form! Just so, without the friction of severity in one’s life, accomplishment, progress and evolution would not happen! We Souls knowingly build an incarnation, knowing it can be a "crapshoot" and the soul is certain severity will be applied but not always how! This is because each personality freely chooses its reactions to life and therefore, its energy-in-motion (emotional responses). In this Electromagnetic universe of Light Manifestations, data (Chokmah) becomes Understood (Binah) and once understood, becomes information and/or in-form-action. The Soul that I Am has a purpose of supplying the intimacy required to proof read, information. Information of the Self, the I AM, becomes a Me, so that it can become intimate "god". The Divine Creative's intimacy made manifest amongst itself-Images. For there is only One; One Energy, One Mind, One I AM. However, there are many "self-reflections" and we Souls personally call those "Me".
tarot of the ages-five of batons
The Tarot of The Ages, depicts strife, just as does the Thoth Tarot but in a different way. Here a wrestling match between two parties are lit by five burning batons/poles standing erect in a fiery sky. To gain mastery of the art of wrestling, these two competitors seek to defeat the other in an honorable art of grappling. And yes, this is very intimate, for intimacy requires contact. Hence, intimacy isn't necessarily gentle touches and cuddles. Intimacy can also be strife. There are no planetary nor zodiacal symbols applied to these minor arcana of The Tarot of The Ages.
