Thoth-Ace of Wands
Santa Muerte- 1 of Wands
The Thoth Ace of Wands represents the earliest stage of Primordial matter, unwilled and violent.
It is important to remember that, although the small cards are sympathetic to their numbered Sephiroth, they are not identical nor are they Divine Persons. They are more like sub-elements and/or parts of "Blind Forces" whose ruling intelligences are of the Realm of Yetzirah, The Formulate World (Shemhamphorasch). What is astounding to note, if not confusing, is that each Major Arcana (Atu) has its own Tree of Life and hierarchy. Obviously this requires more investigation on the student’s part. As a student who teaches, I am still investigation this phenomenon.
To reiterate, THE PRINCESS OF WANDS: represents the Earthly part of Fire and She wields the Primordial fire. She or he is the expression of the irresistible action of a combustible substance and rules from the Heavens from one quadrant around the North Pole (She=Magnetic Force).
It is interesting to note, that the Female Magnetic Force gives Form to the Fiery-electric male force, which in its primeval stage, as the Ace of Wands, is unwilled, unformed and undirected. But like the Magnetic Field of Earth, giving form to the Solar rays, not unlike the Aurora in the night sky, she justifies the direction of this male Force and is shown as a container and/or Cup/Chalice which is not shown in the Ace of Wands as it is uncontained. The Female magnetic is Seen in the Thoth Princess of Wands Card with flames of justice leaping from her forehead, and wearing nothing as a sign that she is perfectly free to combine with her partner; she bears a wand crowned with the Disk of the Sun and leaping into Yod shape surging flame.
The Lords of Fire reside in the realm of Yetzirah, towards which she is leaping, thus she can be compared to the Virgin Priestess of the Lords of Fire. Further championing this fact, is the illustration of the flame topped Altar of Spring, in the left lower corner of this card.
The "seed of fire", The Ace of Wands" is now contained and given a personal Willful expression in the Princess of Wands, as she is brilliant and daring. She has bridled passion, shown by grasping the Tiger by the Tail, and given it direction----where she goes--Passion goes.
Like Fire, it is her essential vigorous energy that describes her beauty. Beauty seen, as the force of her personality dazzles her beholder. Such force can also be expressed as love and anger, which is passionately charged into sudden forms of violence and implacability. Much like a Coral snake, stand back and enjoy its beauty, but don't try to possess it, as its anger is terminal.
The Princess of Wands or Knave of Fire as a personality/intelligence that harnesses the Ace of Wands or 1 of Wands, to Earth (mate to the solar phallus) and is volatile in nature. She consumes all within Her Sphere/containment. She is ambitious, aspiring and full of enthusiasm and is often accused of being irrational. Being the Earthly Part of Fire, She is likened to the Polynesian Volcano Goddess, due to her Volcanic Personality. She is the Earthly fiery womb, rather than the Earthly Watery Womb. If the Princess of Wands is ill dignified or thrown together with the Ace of Wands, we have a person omnivorous in passion of whatever kind, entirely reckless in the means of obtaining gratification, and insatiable. It is notable, that She has given Will to the primeval violence of Male Force ...".by naming Him Father." using His fiery flow to impregnate her every action, as does Earth with power of the Sun.
The name Yod He Vau He, (Tetragramaton)often called the Hebrew name for God, is attributed to the Court Cards, where Yod, is attributed to Knights, He-to Queens, Vau =is attributed to Princes and the last He-is attributed to Princesses, the Earthly Manifestation, as the ultimate issue of the original Energy in its Completion, i.e. crystallization. However, they also represent the counter-balancing and re-absorption of the Energy. They are also the Silence into which all things return.
The Princesses have no zodiacal attribution, thus they are likened to "elemental" people who are recognized by their lack of all sense responsibility and whose moral qualities are very flexible so they are sub-divided according to planetary predominance.
Kether is the Crown, the Observer, the Dark Energy, that is. It is the Unknowable God of many religions, and yet as many of us know, religion is not God. Kether is the Idea of the Big Bang, the point, the Singularity. The Aces are also essences, so they too are not easily explained but we can think of them as the essences discharged into space by the "big bang" that created our galaxy.
The 4 Aces are related to Kether, thus they are representative of the Pure Forms of Energy that are elaborated by the other cards of the Tarot Deck and/or Sephiroth. The consecutive elaboration of the Numbers/Sephiroth, are Forces being woven together to form the Harmonic that is the World and Universe; a World that is 96% invisible to us. However, by combining the colors of the visible spectrum of electromagnetic light, we see that different combinations, make different color changes, such as blue combined with red makes purple, etc. This combination is the necessary diversity of creation and can be called harmonies/marriages. To a Qabalist, the numbered Sephiroth are either Force or Form and sometimes both in union depending on the Masculine-expressive and Female-receptive aspects of a particular Sephiroth. These combinations are the necessary diversity of creation, as well as transformative and can be called harmonies or the “spiral Sex action of Spirit”. In Qaballah, the world we see, is the 1% world, leaving the other 99% invisible.
Each Ace is unique and is distinct in its degree of density and in its ability to do work as a specific function in the One Energy. Thus, each Ace is the Seed of an Alchemical Element. We think we know what seeds are, but when we look at one, we don't see the Tree or plant it represents, we just "kind of" know the pattern of the Tree is in there. That is also our conceptions of Kether, we just "kind of Know" that it is infinite, but then infinite is a human concept and Kether can't be known...so this gets a bit tricky. Obviously open mindedness is required and the courage to keep asking questions until answers emerge. The Influence of Kether is all around us, we just have to trust it knows us even if we know it or not. Obviously we exist, and therefore known. We are a combination of many factors, some if not most, unknown to us, so it is easy to trust the subtle and/or spiritual. All in all, Knowledge built us, and that knowledge is ours to understand as in-form-action.
The Ace of Wands represents the Force of Spirit/Will as the Element of Fire. It is the Radical or Root Force of the Fiery Motion that Moves all things. To those of us who need a pattern, the 4 Aces are said to be placed at the North Pole of the Universe, where they revolve and govern the revolution of the Universe. To a Qabalist the Four Aces are the connecting link between Yetzirah (Formative World) and the Material plane.
The Ace of Wands represents the outpouring of energy in the Universe, It is the root of the Powers of Fire and is the influence of Kether (Dark energy) on the level of pure Spirit. It is represented as the Hebrew letter Yod. Yod is related to Kether, not only is it isolated and self-contained but it is also the formative graphic root for all other letters of the Hebrew Alphabet. Moreover, the Yod is Phallic. It is the Male-Fire (electric) that rushes out toward the Female-Water (Magnetic)
The Thoth Ace of Wands shows 10 Yods emanating from a primitive burning club. This represents the Primal force behind the entire Tree of Life that is composed of 10 Sephiroth and their connecting paths of energy transference. The entire Tree is a glyph of the Power of Fire, i.e. of Spirit. The scholarly student of Qabalah will find that the letter, Shin (Maternal Fire) and Yod are often used interchangeably when referring to the Tree of Life.
Besides being a practicing Qabalist, I am also a practicing Tantric in the techniques of Kundalini Yoga. To me and all those of a higher/Horus state of mind, the human body is a God body. It is sacred and sanctified by the Creator and Creatrix and part of that sacredness is the sacrament of Holy Communion and/or sexual union which is an action of Spirit that transmits and transforms energy! It is Magick in a living form of two who must become one to flow in transformational power. In the beginning 0=2 and the 2 work hard to get back into union as 2=0. I am of the opinion, along with many other intelligentsia, that there is no shame in being a human, or that a soul who owns one by giving it life, should not in any way be embarrassed for doing so!
To make alive such an expression of Self-Awareness is a high honor to any Spirit-Being!
I've spent this life (and many others) learning the powerful purpose of having a human form as my power tool, not only because I was curious why those who rule us, wish us to reject it's divinity (Divide and conquer) and persecute those who refuse to lessen themselves, but also because the Divine Creative Wants To Be Human! In fact the very name Hu-man is God-mind, as Hu is a Chinese-Mandarin and Tibetan and even early Egyptian word for God and man comes from the Hindu word Manas, meaning Mind. These meanings were long before the Patriarchy of Rome took over description and used Latin to describe mankind.
If you can imagine, you have a god mind, for imagination is the "Image makers" Mind! Creators are "image makers".
The Egyptian god Hu, was one of the minor gods in some respects, but he was one of the most important gods for those serious about Egyptian deities. Hu is the power of the spoken word. He personifies the authority of utterance.
Hu and Renenutet
Hu is mentioned already in the Old Kingdom Pyramid texts (PT 251, PT 697) as companion of the deceased pharaoh. Together with Sia, he was depicted in the retinue of Thoth, with whom he was also occasionally identified.
In the Middle Kingdom, all gods participated in Hu and Sia, and were associated with Ptah who created the universe by uttering the word of creation. Hu was depicted in human shape, as a falcon, or as a man with a ram's head.
In the New Kingdom, both Hu and Sia together with Heke, Irer and Sedjem were members of the fourteen creative powers of Amun-Ra. By the time of Ptolemaic Egypt, Hu had merged with Shu (air).

Hu or Huwa (Arabic: هُوَ meaning “He”) is a name for God in Sufism. Literally, Hebrew and Arabic for the English Third person and is used in Sufism to avoid attribution of a grammatical gender to Allah. In Sufism Hu or Huwa is the pronoun used with Allah or God, and is used as a name of God. Allah Hu means "God, Just He!"
Manas is a Sanskrit term which means "the sensory or processing mind" or what may also be known as the "sixth sense." According to yogic philosophy, the human mind has 16 dimensions, which are classified into four categories: buddhi, manas, ahamkara and citta .
Alchemical Fire controls creativity only by Will, in its forms as desire, passion, ambition, focus etc all of which can be said as "I AM". . For it is the Fiery Spirit, The I Am, in all of us that we've inherited from the Solar Logos as "Divine Frenzy" or the Passion of "I Will Be"! Which is Eheieh (I Will Be) in Hebrew and attributed to Kether.
Yet, Fire as passion, can be ill defined and become that which seeks the perverse or transgression; Therefore, a clear knowledge must be the director of the Fiery Will.
The Crown, the Observer, the On the Qabalistic Tree of: Life, Kether is the Dark Energy, that is. It is the Unknowable God of many religions, and yet as many of us know, religion is not God, for it is created by man's fear of there being a God. Kether is the Idea of the Big Bang, the point, the Singularity. Therefore, the symbols used to define Kether are the Diamond Crown, The Point and the Phallus.
