The Tarot of the old path- key 19-the sun
The Tarot of the Old Path, shows the Sun in a Power of the Materialistic world depiction, less occult than the Thoth Deck, and more about Fire, Sun and Summer solstice as shown by the Sun rising over Stonehenge. The Zodiacal girdle that surrounds the Sun, represents its journey through the 12 signs. The red triangle on the Sun's forehead, is the symbol for fire. The solstice is June 21st upon which time the Sun enters the sign of Cancer which is elevated in this representation.
The Various alchemical elements of Fire, Water, Air and Earth are shown in their traditional colors as rays emaciating from the Sun.
The Hanging Stones are shown in the foreground, with the Hele stone in the center. On the longest day of the year, the Sun rises over the Hele stone, thus, aligning the Stone with the horizon.
Here the male and female are celebrating the joyous Sun and the Mystical Phoenix represents the rebirth through fire symbol of Alchemy.
Fittingly, the Sun banishes the illusions of the Moon, with its clear bright light and represents the Pure Consciousness of Spirit. Here, is Tiphareth on the Tree of life---the Solar Logos, where the individual Soul is cleansed of errant definition reaching its peak of perfection as the Christ or Buddha conscious.

THE THOTH DECK KEY 19-THE SUN:
The Sun is the Qabalistic Path of Resh on the Qabalistic Tree of Life. Resh, meaning- Head, is often called the Collecting Intelligence, and connects Hod-Splendor with Yesod-Foundation and is the first path of the Personality triad to arise on the Tree of Life. Intellectually formative, it is the activating force of the Personality, which like the Higher Self and the Supreme Spiritual Self, is composed of the intuitive dynamic Yod (Male electric force) and a intellectual-formative Heh, or feminine magnetic. Their union creating as set of opposing force interactions of the two in equilibrium which is the Vau, giving us the Yod{Hermit) Heh {Emperor) Vau {Hierophant).
We see this balanced- opposing force interactions, in the card as the Active or Dancing Twins underneath the 12 rays of the Sun representing the signs of the zodiac. Astrologically, the signs are the 12 sign posts of personality formation and reception of planetary influences that govern the birth and life course of each incarnation. Thus the Sun is seen as the Collective Intelligence as it also links the newly incarnated to the personalities of past incarnations, of which the Soul collects in its Akashic Records.
The Path of Resh, The Sun, represents the highest form of human intellectual achievement. Basically the Sun represents the Solar intellect (Bright and Warm) acting upon the dualities of the human condition, which are the Christ-consciousness and its earthly vehicle of survival or self- consciousness. The Path of Resh, basically connects the human intellect with the intellect of the Greater Self and/or Higher Self. Thus, the Sun represents Heru-ra-ha , the Lord of the New Aeon; he is the Sun/Son spiritual, moral and physical. Lord of Light, Life, Liberty and Love.
Hence, this key, represents the complete emancipation of the human race.
Here also, is depicted the signs of the zodiac, with Aries rising in the east and the zodiac is a kind of childish representation of the body of Nuit as a girdle of Our Lady of infinite space.
The green mound is the fertile earth, crowned with a wall depicting there is still some controlling factors in the New Aeon, as some morality is still required. Yet the male and female images of the "Dancing Twins" represent innocence and shamelessness and the morality of equality: "do unto anther as you would have done to you."
The medallions at their feet depict the sacred signs of the Old Aeon, the Rose and the Cross, from which they have arisen, yet it still supports them. Also the symbol of the Rose is central to the Sun, which is the expansion of the Cross, which is no longer limited to the number 4, the limit of mundane law, and is now shown as the 12 rays of the Sun which is the numerical value of 12 in Qabalistic gematria is called HUA ("he"), the Most Holy Ones. Please refer to the Book of Thoth by Crowley for more in depth information. This is a very powerful Qabalistic Path of initiation, and much has been written in my past and present blogs about it, so please refer to the blogs and read the book, Qabalistic Tarot by Robert Wang if you wish deeper insight.
